Dukes Shutout Dayton 7-0

MONROEVILLE - The Duquesne women's tennis team shutout Dayton 7-0 Friday afternoon at the Club 4 Life. The win improved the Dukes to 7-5, 3-1 on the season.

DU breezed through the double matches, sweeping the flyers by a combined score of 24-5.

Zena Williams earned her 23 singles win of the year as she won her No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1. Johanna Bezjak shutout Liana Grote at No. 2 singles 6-0, 6-0. Rebecca Poole was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 3 singles and Rachel McGowan took No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1.

Andrea Sailer took the first set at No. 5 singles before dropping the second set 0-6. Sailer took the deciding tiebreaker 10-7. Kristen Swenson was a 6-3. 7-6 winner at No. 6 singles.

The Dukes will host Xavier tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
