Poole, McGowan, Williams Named A-10 Women's Tennis Second-Team All-Conference

PHILADELPHIA -Duquesne women's tennis senior Rebecca Poole, junior Rachel McGowan and sophomore Zena Williams were named Atlantic 10 Second-Team All-Conference. The teams were selected by a vote of the A-10 women's tennis coaches after the conclusion of the 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship.

Poole earned second-team all-conference honors for the third consecutive season. She finished the 2009 season with 34 wins, going 15-9 at #3 singles and 17-3 at #2 doubles. She finished the season winning 10 of her final 11 singles matches and eight consecutive doubles matches (with partner Samantha Noble). Poole finished her DU career with 141 career wins.

McGowan earns her first all-conference honor. She moved up to #2 singles this season after playing alternating time at #3 and #4 her first two season with the Dukes. She recorded 35 total wins - 15 in singles and 20 in doubles. Partnered with Williams, the duo went 10-0 to start the season and picked up a pair of wins at the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship.

Williams, the 2008 A-10 Conference Most Outstanding Rookie Performer earns her second all-conference award. She accumulated 30 wins during the season with playing at the #1 position in both singles and doubles.

Duquesne (8-13) finished tied for seventh in the conference this season.
