Men's and Women's Tennis Join Forces to Raise Money for American Diabetes Association
Sept. 13, 2012
HARMAR, Pa. - The Duquesne men's and women's tennis programs recently joined forces to raise over $2,500 for the American Diabetes Association. The monies raised went towards helping to send local kids to Diabetes camp. The event was named "The Pound Down".
The men's and women's team, along with Fit Fx Co-Founder Josh Berthold, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in May of 2008, helped motivate participants "pound down" various events such as tire flips, kettle ball swings, ab planks along with traditional weightlifting exercises. Donors sponsored the participants in each event.
"We appreciate and thank all those who made the time to stop by or work out for this cause," said Berthold. "Special thanks go to both the men and women's tennis teams from Duquesne, who all came out to cheer on participants as well as work out themselves."
Donations are still being accepted. Stop in at Fit Fx, located in the Alpha Fitness and Tennis of Pittsburgh building - 1 West Alpha Drive in Harmar.
