Women's Track Participates in Two Events This Weekend

The Duquesne women's track and field team participated in two events this past weekend - the Youngstown State Invite on Friday and the Penn State National Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
At Youngstown State, Tacquaya Tobias was second overall in the pentathlon with a score of 3084 followed by Anna Simone in fourth place with a score of 2896 and Angela Hartz in fifth place with a score of 2653. Freshmen Taylor Yarshen and Franki DiSalvo were third and fifth in the pole vault each with jumps of 11-5.75.
The throwers were also at YSU. Ashley Adams was third in the shot put with a throw of 46-6.25. She was eighth in the weight throw with a toss of 47-10.00. Chelsea Zahn was fifth in the shot put (43-4.25) and 20th in the weight throw (39-2.25). Arin Whitman finished fourth in the shot put (51-3.50) and seventh in the weight throw (42-00.50).
At Penn State, Amber Valimont set a career-best in the mile with a time of 4:50.98. Five others set season-best times/distances: Shannon Abraham (400m/57.23), Elise Farris (800m/2:15.12), Shelby Haitz (800m/2:16.12), Katelyn Cass (Pole Vault/10-11.75) and Brittney Edwards (Triple Jump/38-9). The 4x400m team of Nicole Cherok, Brittany Sinclair, Abraham and Taylor Glenn also set a season-best time of 3:50.33.
The Dukes return to Ohio this weekend for the YSU College Invitational.
