Duquesne's women's indoor track and field team was lead by their underclassmen 8 x 400 meter relay quartet at this past weekend's two day, 50-team Penn State National meet at PSU's Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track. The team of freshman Tara Gerlach (Erie, Pa. / Villa Maria Academy), sophomore Michelle Flynn (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway), sophomore Alison Buchanan (Ravenna, OH / St. Thomas Aquinas) and freshman Elizabeth Graham (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) finished in sixth place with a time of 9:23.58, a new Duquesne record.

Junior Carrie Hucko (left) (Wexford, PA / North Allegheny / Miami-Ohio) broke the existing Duquesne record in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:12.46, a 31st place finish in this meet. And sophomore Sarah Fetterman (Elysburg, PA / Southern Columbia) set the third Duquesne record with a jump of 10 feet 6 inches in the pole vault competition, which was good for a 25th place tie in the event.

Sophomore Marcie Hepler (Vandergrift, Pa. / Kiski Area) had her second best shot put toss of the season at 13.13 meters (43 feet, 1 inch) which was good for 14th place among 37 competitors. Hepler holds the current Duquesne record of 43' 5.5" set in mid-January at the Robert Morris Invitational.
