YOUNGSTOWN – The Duquesne women’s track and field team competed in their final meet for the 2012-13 indoor season before the Atlantic 10 Championships at the YSU Invitational held at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS).  The Dukes finished second out of 10 teams in the event.

Nicole Cherok set her personal best in the 400M dash and won the event with a time of 56.39.  Shannon Abraham finished behind Cherok in third with 57.71.

Abby O’Connell and Anna Simone finished second and third in the 500M dash, earning the Dukes 14 points with times of 1:16.66 and 1.17.01.

Elise Farris and Shelby Haitz finished second and third in the 800M, running 2:14.94 and 2:15.59.

Haley Pisarcik finished third in the 1000M (2:56.56) and one mile run (5:03.15), giving the Dukes 12 points.  Amber Valimont finished ahead of Pisarcik in the one mile run with 4:59.25 and winning first place.  She also finished second in the 3000M run (10:06.93) and won 18 points, the most of any Duquesne student-athlete.

The 4x400M relay continued their success, winning first place with a team of 3:47.19.

Paige Rittleman won first in the high jump over 14 other student-athletes, jumping a distance of 5-06.00.

Tacquaya Tobias jumped 17-09.00 in the long jump to win the event.  Britney Edwards finished behind her in third place with 17-02.75.  Edwards also won the triple jump with 38-10.25.

Duquesne finished with 117 points.  Bucknell won the event with 322.5 points, and Detroit and Youngstown State finished directly behind in third and fourth place.


 

 

The Dukes will be traveling to Kingston, R.I. next weekend to compete in the 2013 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.
