Women's Track Finishes Sixth at A-10 Indoor Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Duquesne women's track and field team placed sixth out of 14 teams at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by the University of Rhode Island. The Dukes, who finished with 60 total points, won six total medals. Haley Piscarcik set a new school record in the 1000m, winning gold with a time of 2:54.78. Sherie Key also set a school record and won gold. Key posted a mark of 5-7 in the high jump. The relays teams won a pair of silver medals. The 4x400m team of Nicole Cherok, Abby O'Connell, Shannon Abraham and Anna Simone, who narrowly missed first place by 0:01, crossed in 3:52.21. The DMR team of Piscarcik, Abraham, Shelby Haitz and Amber Valimont were a solid second with a time of 11:51.21. Brittney Edwards and Cherok each won bronze. Edwards in the triple jump with a distance of 39- 7.75 and Cherok in the 400m with a time of 56.51.
