KINGSTON, R.I. - The Duquesne women's track and field team competed on day one of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship on Saturday at Mackal Field House. Through six scored events, the Dukes sit in ninth place with 14 points.
Junior Shannon Taub (Philadelphia, Pa./Council Rock) earned a silver medal in the pentathlon with a score of 3520 buoyed by a first-place mark in the high jump (1.70m) to go with a second-place showing in the shot put (12.34m).
Sophomore Bethany Evankovich (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane) qualified for the finals in the 200-meter dash with a first-place time of 24.91 in Saturday's preliminary round. She also advances to the finals of the 500-meter run with a mark of 1:14.72, good for third in the prelims.
Sophomore Maiah Yankello (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) qualified for the 800-meter run finals with second-place time of 2:15.62 in the prelims
Senior Victoria Soeder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) and freshman Chyna Beck (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) advance to Sunday's finals in the 60-meter hurdles with preliminary times of 8.86 and 8.97, respectively.
The Dukes are back in action tomorrow with the second and final day of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship. Competition gets underway at 9 a.m. from Mackal Field House. For a complete schedule of events CLICK HERE.
