Duquesne's Women's Track Grabs Fifth At A10s
Feb. 22, 2003
Kingston, Rhode Island - The Duquesne University women's indoor track and field team finished in fifth place in the Altantic 10 Championships held Saturday at the University of Rhode Island's Mackal Field House in Kingston, RI. The Dukes were led by the distance medley team (sophomore Michelle Flynn, senior Julie Tyo, sophomore Alison Buchanan and junior Carrie Hucko) which took first place with an unofficial hand time of 12:16.60. The time sets a new Duquesne record, but no official times are available from the event due to a scoring system problem. Sophomore Marcie Hepler grabbed second place in the weight throw with a toss of 51'11.25 and broke her own Duquesne mark of 47'09.75, set earlier this month, by more than four feet. Five bronze medals are accompanying Duquesne's gold and silver in the trip home to Pittsburgh.
Duquesne will next head to the ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships which will be held in Boston, MA on Sat. and Sun., March 8-9, 2003.
