Women's Track Finishes Second at Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Duquesne women's track and field team had an excellent outing at the 2011 Colonial Relays hosted by the College of William and Mary this past weekend. The Dukes finished second out of 40 teams with 62 total points.

Sherie Key won the high jump (10 points) and tied the outdoor school record with a distance of 5-7. Ashley Adams also had a first place finish. Adams' throw of 151-10 earned DU 10 points. She earned the Dukes eight points after her second place finish in the shot put with a throw of 44-11.50. The 1600m team of Nicole Cherok, Taylor Glenn, Shannon Abraham and Colleen Gilmore finished in first place (10 points) with a time of 4:08.86. Sierra Larsuel was second in the triple jump (8 points) with a distance of 18-4.5. Brittney Edwards was fourth in the triple jump (5 points) with a distance of 37-11.25.

Key earned one point with an eighth place finish in the triple jump (37-3). Korrey Willis (5th place/4 points) and Arin Whitman (6th place/3 points) earned points in the shot put with throws of 42-6.75 and 41-10 respectively. Glenn picked up three points in the 200m with a time of 25.31.

Barnhart, Laumer Participate in W&J Invitational

WASHINGTON, Pa. - A pair of Dukes participated in the W&J Invitational on Sunday. Laura Barnhart and Emily Laumer represented Duquesne in the javelin.



Barnhart finished second overall with a throw of 115-7, which was good for eight points. Laumer's throw of 105-11 was seventh best in the field of 26. She earned two points for DU.
