Elizabeth Graham Wins 1500 Meters at Duke Invitational

Durham, N.C. - Senior Elizabeth Graham (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) won the 1,500 meter developmental race on the opening day of the Duke Track and Field Invitational, Friday at the Blue Devils' Wallace Wade Stadium.
Graham finished the competition in 4:43.13, over a second-and-a-half ahead of second place Allison Teter from West Virginia Wesleyan, in the 80-runner race. Junior Samantha Howard's (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon) time of 17:15.25, which was good for 13th in the 5,000 meter race, was 30 seconds shy of her school record in this distance. Junior Kate Szymaszek (Simsbury, Conn./Simsbury) finished sixth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 38:34.12.
On day two of the competition, Graham placed 11th in Section 2 of the Women 800 Meter Developmental Run crossing in 2:30.67. Carly Brickett's time of 2:28.57 was good for seventh place in Section 5. Overall, Brickett finished 49th and Graham 66th.
Brianne Scott had an impressive finish in the 3,000m steeplechase. Scott's time of 10:54.15 was good for fifth place in a field of 21 runners.
