Women's Track & Field Takes Second at UVA

Duquesne's women's outdoor track and field team took home second place among 16 teams competing at Saturday's University of Virginia Lou Onesty / Milton G. Abramson Invitational at UVA's Lannigan Field. The Dukes were led by junior Nicole Wiley (New Castle, Del. / Padua Academy) and sophomore Kristen Micsky (Greenville, PA/Reynolds) who took gold medals in the 100 meter hurdles and the triple jump, respectively, while sophomore Marcie Hepler (Vandergrift, Pa. / Kiski Area) took third place in both the discuss throw and shot put. All told, Duquesne's performance resulted in seven medals. Three events produced the most points for Duquesne [the triple jump (16), discuss throw (15) and javelin throw (14)] on the way to a team score of 73 points, second only to the host Cavaliers with 191. Georgetown and Monmouth tied for third place with 59 points. Two other Atlantic 10 squads competed at this event: Richmond grabbed seventh place with 46 points while Saint Joseph's come in eight with 43. The Dukes will next head to Akron, Ohio for the University of Akron's Tri Meet on Saturday, April 19th.
