Charlottesville, Va. - Duquesne University's women's outdoor track and field team set three new school records Saturday on the way to a seventh place finish at the 18-team University of Virginia's Lou Onesty / Milton G. Abramson Invitational at Lannigan Track.
Senior Sarah Fetterman broke her own school pole vault mark with a leap of 11 feet, 5.75 inches which was good for third place in the 23-athlete competition. Saturday's feat broke the record of 10 feet, 10 inches she set twice last season.
Freshman Erica Moody, the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week & the ECAC Division I Women's Track Athlete of the Week, eclipsed her own 400 meter dash Duquesne record of 57.45 set at last month's Raleigh Relays. Her time Saturday was 56.88.
Duquesne's 4 x 400 meter relay quartet of Erica Moody, Kristen Micsky, Alison Buchanan and Elena Resovich grabbed second with a 3:54.18 finish. This topped DU's previous best of 3:54.45, also set at Raleigh. In addition, freshman Amy Ruffolo won the bronze in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:03.30.
Micsky also took sixth overall in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 38' 5.50".
The Dukes return to action next Saturday, April 23, 2005, at the Bucknell Five-Way.
