Dukes Win Six Events At Bucknell Five-Way

Lewisburg, Pa. - Duquesne's women's outdoor track and field team grabbed six firsts on the way to third place at the Bucknell Five-Way Saturday at Christy Mathewson Memorial Stadium. Senior Sarah Fetterman and freshman Erica Moody won gold in the pole vault and 400 meter dash, respectively. And senior Kristen Micsky won both the 400 meter high hurdles and the long jump.
Fetterman (Elysburg, Pa. / Southern Columbia) won the pole vault with a leap of 3.35 meters or 10 feet, 11.75 inches.
Moody (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic), the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, won the 400 meter dash in 57.02.
Micsky (Greenville, Pa. / Reynolds) took the 400 meter high hurdles with a time of 1:03.07 and won the long jump with a leap of 5.53 meters (18 feet, 1.75 inches).
Freshman Samantha Howard (Moon Twp., Pa. / Moon) captured the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:39.46, more than five minutes faster that second place Erin Cramer-Hart of Bucknell. Again, fellow frosh Amy Ruffolo (Bradford Woods, Pa. / North Allegheny) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a mark of 11:01.33.
The Dukes also had two seconds and one third as they accumulated 107 points in the four-team tournament.
Duquesne next heads to Philadelphia, Pa. for the prestigious Penn Relays beginning Thursday, April 28, 2005.
