#DuqWTrack Finishes Tied for Fifth at A-10 Track & Field Championship

QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne women's track and field team finished in a tie for fifth place at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship hosted by George Mason University this weekend. The Dukes finished with 72 points, tied with Richmond. The host Patriots finished the two-day event with 176 point, successfully defending their 2014 championship title.
VCU finished second with 136 points and was followed by Dayton in third with 92 points. Massachusetts (76.5) was fourth, Rhode Island was seventh with 62 points and was followed by Saint Louis (55.5), Saint Joseph's (35), Davidson (31), La Salle (27), Fordham (19) and George Washington (4).
Duquesne won five medals in four different events. Anna Simone took gold in the 400m hurdles, finishing in 58.91. The Dukes finished first and second in the 3000m steeplechase with Danica Snyder leading the pack with a time of 10:17.76. Snyder's time also broke a school record of 10:19.85 set by Amber Valimont in 2009. Valerie Palermo followed crossing in 10:31.35. Simone set a new school record in the 100m hurdles with a third place finish of 14.15. Sherie Key also won bronze in the triple jump with a PR of 39-11.25.
