Charlotte, N.C. - Senior Brianne Scott's second place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase race led the Dukes to fifth place after the first day of the 2007 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championships, Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center on the campus of University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Scott's NCAA qualifying time of 10:50.00 trailed only Charlotte's Jane Daniels in this event. Twelve teams are competing this year.

The second and final day of competition begins at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2007.
