Edwards Named Most Outstanding Field Performer as Dukes Finish Tied for Third at A-10 T&F Championship

CHARLOTTE - The Duquesne women's track and field team finished tied for third with 97 points at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship held at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center in Charlotte.
Brittney Edwards was named the Most Outstanding Field Performer after placing first in the Long Jump (19-6.25) and second in the Triple Jump (40-9.75).
In addition to Edwards' two medals, Nicole Cherok was a gold medal winner in the 400m hurdles breaking her own school record with a time of 58.62 and Amber Valimont won gold in the steeplechase (10:33.74). The 4x400m team of Cherok, Abby O'Connell, Shannon Abraham and Anna Simone finished second with a time of 3:44.57. Paige Rittelmann won her first A-10 medal, taking home bronze in the high jump (5-5.25).
This is the best finish for the Dukes since a second place finish in 2005.
Duquesne finished tied with VCU and was just one point behind Rhode Island. Charlotte successfully defended its title earning their seventh Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship with 120.5 points.
