Women's track 1st After Day 1 at A-10 Championship

AMHERST, Mass. - The Duquesne women's track and field team sits in first place after Day 1 of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship.

The Dukes recorded 48 total points and earned five medals. Valerie Palermo won gold in the steeplechase. Mercedes Oliver (hammer) Shannon Taub (high jump) and Autumn Greba (10,000m) won silver and Victoria Soeder won bronze in the long jump.

Bethany Evankovich (200m, 400m), Hannah Gilliam and Annegret Nehl (800m) and Soeder (100m hurdles) all have qualified for the finals in their respected event.

The event will wrap up tomorrow with 15 events beginning at 9:00 a.m.
