Melissa Stewart Paces Dukes At ECAC Div I Championships

Princeton, New Jersey - Duquesne freshman Melissa Stewart paced the eight members of Duquesne's Women's Outdoor Track and Field Team who had qualified for the 20th annual ECAC Division I Women's Track and Field Championship. The event was held this weekend at Princeton University's Weaver Track & Field Stadium. Stewart's discuss throw of 43.12 meters, 141 feet six inches, was good for sixth place at the four-day championship event. The Indiana, PA native previously qualified for the NCAA East Regionals with a toss of 47.55 meters (156 feet 0 inches) at the Atlantic 10 Championships two weeks ago. (A mark of 150 feet even is needed for the NCAA championship competition.) The regionals will be held at George Mason Stadium in Fairfax, Virginia on Saturday and Sunday, May 30-31, 2003. The finals are scheduled for June 11-14, 2003 at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium. Teammates competing this weekend:
