Women's Track NCAA East Regional Day 2 Recap

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Three members of the Duquesne women's track and field team participated in Day 2 of the 2014 NCAA East Regional held on the campus of the University of North Florida on Friday.
In the 400m hurdles semifinal round, the top three from each heat, plus the the next three best time advance to the NCAA Finals held in Eugene, Ore. Anna Simone ran in the 2nd heat, finishing 5th with a time of 57.87 - a new school record. Four of the top seven finishers were in Simone's heat. Of the 24 overall runners, Simone finished 15th.
Sherie Key represented Duquesne in the high jump. Unfortunately, she did not advance after an NH score. She finishes her Dukes' career holding the school record of 5-8.75
Valerie Palermo finished 13th in her heat and 39th of 48 runners in the steeplechase. She crossed in 10:41.32.
2014 marked the 2nd most Duquesne representation at an NCAA East Regional. In addition to Simone, Key and Palermo, Elise Farris ran in the 800m, setting a school record with a time of 2:06.80. Last season, the Dukes sent five student-athletes.
