Women's Track Finishes T-36th at ECAC Championship

EVENT: ECAC Women's Track and Field Championship

QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne women's track and field team finished tied for 36th out of 55 teams at the ECAC Women's Track and Field Championship.

Three Dukes registered a total of eight points in Valeria Palermo, Julia Franzosa and Gabriella Benninger.

Palermo turned in a season-best time 10:23.78 and a 5th place finish in the steeplechase, good for four points. Palermo also participated in the Franzosa was 7th in the javelin with a throw of 142-8 and two points. Benninger was 7th in the heptathlon, scoring 4361 points and earning Duquesne two points.

Duquesne was also represented by Abby O'Connell (400m), Annegret Nehl (800m), Hannah Scipio (10,000m), Autumn Greba (10,000m), Victoria Soeder (100m hurdles), the team of Kaitlyn Janusey, Abbie Marquard, Kim Watterson and Hannah Gilliam (4x400m).

UP NEXT: Franzosa (javelin) and Valerie Palermo (steeplechase) will be participating in the NCAA East Preliminary Championships held in Jacksonville, Fla. Franzosa will compete on May 26th and Palermo on May 27th.
