INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee has announced the participants in the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Preliminary Championships competition. Five Duquesne student-athletes will represent the Dukes in three different events.

Brittney Edwards, who was named the Most outstanding Field Performer at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship, will participate in the triple jump. She set a school record with a jump of 41-0.25 at the Fred Hardy Invitational.

In the 400m hurdles, Nicole Cherok and Anna Simone will run for Duquesne. Cherok holds both the school record and Atlantic 10 record with a time of 58.62. Simone placed third at the ECAC Championship with a time of 59.56.

Danica Snyder and Amber Valimont will participate in the 3000m steeplechase. Snyder finished sixth at ECAC's with a time of 10:28.14. Valimont won gold at the A-10 Championship crossing in 10:33.74.

The Preliminary championships competitions will be held May 23-25. The East region will be held at North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. The qualifiers out of these regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.
