The Dukes' Amy Ruffolo (Bradford Woods, PA/North Allegheny) took second in her heat at the 2006 NCAA East Regionals in the 3,000 meter Steeplechase crossing in 10:56.36. Her time put her 25th overall in the field of 44 participants.

Ruffolo was one of just seven freshmen / sophomores to place in the top 25 in the event. She was also the top finisher of the two Atlantic 10 runners competing beating out Richmond senior Nicole Kurtain who took 37th with her time of 11:23.86.

The top five overall times advance to the NCAA championship.
