Abraham, Adams Named to District 2 Academic All-America Team

Junior Shannon Abraham and senior Ashley Adams have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Team as voted on by the district's sports information directors.
Academically, Abraham is a member of the Director of Athletics' Honor Roll, Dean's List, Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and A-10 Academic All-Conference Team. She is a marketing major with a GPA of 4.0. Athletically, she is a four-time A-10 medal winner and holds the outdoor school record in the 4x100 and indoor record in the 4x400m.
Academically, Adams is a member of the Director of Athletics' Honor Roll, Dean's List, Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and A-10 Academic All-Conference Team. She is a pharmacy major with a GPA of 3.95. Athletically, she is a five-time A-10 medal winner and holds both indoor and outdoor school records in the shot put. Additionally, she participated in the 2010 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Abraham and Adams, along with those from the other seven districts, will now move on to the national ballot. This year's Capital One Academic All-America team will be announced on Thursday, June 27.
To be eligible for this award, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a scale of 4.00. He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at the institution and must have completed at least one full academic year at the institution. Sports information directors nominate eligible athletes from their schools who are named to district teams prior to being voted upon on the national level. CoSIDA has been selecting Academic All-America teams since 1952.
CoSIDA's District 2 covers Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
