Women's Track Signs Eight to National Letters Of Intent

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne women's track and field head coach Bryan Delsite has announced the signings of Brittany Edwards (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin), Amber Valimont (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), Elise Farris (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell), Sherie Key (Mansfield, Texas/Mansfield Legacy), Chelsea Zahn (McMurray, Pa./Canon-McMillan), Haley Pisarcik (South Park, Pa./South Park), Shelby Haitz (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Brittany Sinclair (Lindenwold, N.J./Lindenwold) to national letters of intent. "We are extremely excited for this group to become part of the Duquesne family," said Delsite. "This is definitely one of the most talented classes we have recruited." Edwards is coming off her senior season where she successfully defended her WPIAL gold medals in the both the long jump and triple jump. She is a two-time PIAA silver medalist in the triple jump. EDWARDS' PERSONAL BESTS Valimont finished her high school career with winning the PIAA Class AAA girls' title in the 1,600m run with a time of 4:54.02. She placed seventh in the 2010 PIAA Cross Country Championships. VALIMONT'S PERSONAL BESTS Farris is a two-time WPIAL champion in the 800m. She brought home silver in the 800m at the 2010 PIAA Championships Additionally, she won both the 400m and 800m at the 2010 Beaver County Championships. FARRIS' PERSONAL BESTS
Key, who began her career at Morse High School in San Diego before moving to Texas, was a state qualifier in the triple, high and long jumps. She holds Mansfield Legacy's school records in the high jump. KEY'S PERSONAL BESTS Zahn picked up a bronze medal at the 2010 PIAA Championship in the discus. She also was a silver medalist in the discus at the 2010 WPIAL Championships. ZAHN'S PERSONAL BESTS Pisarcik was a double medal winner at the 2010 WPIAL Championship - taking gold in the 800m and silver in the 1600m. She finished fourth in the 800m and fifth in the 1600m at the 2010 PIAA Championship. PISARCIK'S PERSONAL BESTS Haitz, a PIAA state qualifier in the 800m, has led Norwin to several championships in relay events. Her time of 2:12.67 at the 2008 WPIAL Championship in the 800m won her gold and is the fifth fastest in league history. She also was a bronze medalist the 2008 PIAA Championship in the 800m. HAITZ'S PERSONAL BESTS Sinclair was a qualifier for the New Jersey Meet of Champions in the 400m. She finished second at the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Group Championships in the 400m with a PR time of 57.48. SINCLAIR'S PERSONAL BESTS "I have to give credit to Coach (Caitlin) Cotter and Coach (Jim) Lear who helped recruit this excellent group", added Delsite. "They worked countless hours to bring these talented student-athletes to Duquesne." |
