Amber Kaufman, a former two-sport standout at the University of Hawai'i, joined the Duquesne volleyball staff as an assistant coach in July 2016.

Kaufman comes to the Bluff after serving one year as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh last season.

As a player, Kaufman excelled in both volleyball and track and field at Hawai'i. She received 2009 All-America honorable mention honors in volleyball while leading the Rainbow Wahine to a Final Four appearance at the NCAA Championship. She earned First-Team All- Western Athletic Conference three times (2007, 08, 09) and was on the All-WAC Freshman team in 2006.

Kaufman was also a five-time All-American in track and field between the indoor and outdoor seasons . She was the 2010 NCAA champion in the high jump. She was a three time WAC champion in the outdoor high jump (2008, 2009,2010) and won the indoor high jump twice (2009, 2010). Her PR was an impressive 6-4 set at the 2009 WAC Championship.

After graduation, Kaufman played three years in the Mestaruusliiga Volleyball League in Finland, earning a spot on the 2015 All-Star team.

Kaufman, who earned Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Awards, received her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa in 2010.
