Kellen Petrone is in his second season as an assistant coach. He previously served as a player/practice manager for the Dukes in 2004 and 2005. As a player, the 2004 Pittsburgh Central Catholic graduate made first team All-Section as well as first team All-WPIAL as a senior while leading the Vikings to a number-two state ranking much of the season. He was named a member of the All-Tournament team after Central Catholic took home the championship at the 2004 Montour Volleyball Tournament. He was also named a 2003 second team All-Section All Star. In 2004, he founded the Duquesne Men's Volleyball Club team. In addition to serving as president, he was a member of the 2006 squad that finished tied for fifth out of 32 teams in the Penn-Ohio Volleyball League. He was named to the 2007 Penn-Ohio Volleyball League All-Star team after the club had another fifth-place finish. Petrone also was a member of the Pittsburgh Renaissance Volleyball Club for several seasons. In the spring of 2005, he was hired as the assistant coach for the Fox Chapel High School boys' volleyball team. In his first season assisting the Foxes, they were ranked third in the WPIAL and 16th in the state. The following spring, Fox Chapel was crowned WPIAL champions and was a state finalist. This past spring, Fox Chapel made it to the finals of the WPIAL championship. In the fall of 2006, Petrone began his duties as assistant coach for the Moon Area High School girl's team. The Tigers won the WPIAL Championship and finished the season tied for eighth in the state. He has also coached for the United Volleyball Club. Petrone is a senior at Duquesne and is majoring in entrepreneurship. |
