PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne volleyball team continued their winning way Tuesday night as they defeated Pittsburgh 3-1 at the Fitzgerald Field House. The win gives DU a 7-1 record which is their best start since 2002.

Tricia Mullen led the Dukes with 12 kills, Amy Palko had 18 digs, and Chelsea Tillotson had 25 assists.

Duquesne took the first set 25-17, taking advantage of the Panthers 10 attack and three service errors.

Pittsburgh fended off three set points to tie second set at 24-24, but back-to-back kills by Mullen gave the Dukes a 26-24 win.

The Dukes only mustered 10 points in the third set as Pittsburgh capitalized on 11 DU attack errors to win the set 25-10.

Amanda Humphrey's kill broke a 9-9 in the fourth set to give the Dukes a lead they would no rescind the rest of the set. Mullen's 12th kill of the evening wound up being the match-winner as the DU won the set 25-19 and the match 3-1

This was the first victory for Duquesne against Pittsburgh since Oct. 23, 2001 and 11th overall win over a school from the Big East Conference.

DU will participate in the Fiesta Bowl Classic this weekend, beginning Friday evening against Navy. Saturday, the Dukes play a pair of matches - Hampton at 1:00 p.m. and host Northern Arizona at 10:00 p.m. The DU/NAU match will be televised on Dish Network Channel 9411.
