Volleyball Downed by Temple

The Duquesne volleyball team suffered a 3-0 Atlantic 10 loss to visiting Temple Friday evening at the A.J. Palumbo Center. The Dukes now stand 7-9 overall, 1-1 in the A-10 while the Owls improved to 4-11, 1-0 in league play.
DU fell 22-30 in game one which saw the Owls hit .347 (21-4-49) for the game to the Dukes .259 (17-3-54). The game saw 11 ties and five lead changes. The Red & Blue held a 17-8 margin in game two, but Temple inched its way to a 30-27 victory before taking a 31-29 edge in the third and deciding game.
Stephanie Hopkins led the Dukes with 14 kills and Diana Wuebker added 12 in the loss. Defensively, Erin Trageser was on fire with a match-best 20 digs, just two shy of the Dukes' three-game match record of 22 and she added seven kills. Wuebker contributed 17 digs and libero Karisa Decker has 12 and tied the match-lead with three aces.
Yue Liu led Temple and the match with 18 kills and Zhen Jai Liu with 18 digs.
Duquesne returns to play on Saturday hosting La Salle in an A-10 match-up at 7:00 pm.
