Volleyball Defeats Fordham 3-1

Oct. 10, 2008

Box Score

BRONX - Jessica Artman recorded a match-high 19 kills as the Duquesne volleyball team improved its record to 14-6, 3-2 after their 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 27-25, 25-22) victory over Fordham Friday night.

After splitting the first two sets, the Rams led 25-24 in the third set. But Fordham could not put the Dukes away - a kill by Artman and back-to-back blocks from Liz Homan and Brittany Poling gave DU a 27-25 win and a 2-1 match lead.

The fourth set was close the entire way, but Duquesne would not rescind an early lead as an Artman kill ended the set 25-22 and gave the Dukes the match 3-1.

Tricia Mullen finished with a double-double of 11 kills and 16 digs. In addition to her match-high in kills, Artman recorded 12 digs and hit .310. Chelsea Tillotson had 45 assists for the Dukes who travel to Rhode Island for a 5:00 p.m. match Saturday afternoon.
