The Duquesne volleyball team dropped a disappointing 3-2 (30-20, 30-25, 23-30, 28-30, 9-15) match to visiting Dayton Saturday evening at the Palumbo Center despite four Dukes notching double-figure kills. Sarah Morrow led DU with 19 kills and posted a match-best 21 digs. Diana Wuebker added 17 kills and 13 digs in the loss.

Stephanie Hopkins added 14 kills for the Dukes followed by Ashley Macko with 11 kills and 13 digs. Setter Sarah Brown recorded 56 assists and 14 digs. Xavier was led by Susan Westbrock with 27 kills and Carrie Snider with 19 digs.

Duquesne falls to 14-10 overall, 4-5 in A-10 play while Dayton, which ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and fifth in the Northeast Regional rankings, improved to 18-5, 7-2 in the league play.

The Dukes came out strong taking game one 30-20 holding the lead the entire game. Game two had the Flyer up 9-4 before the Red & Blue chipped away at the lead and knotted the game 15-15. Four ties followed before DU grabbed a 25-21 edge and the lead for good. The Dukes trailed 9-12 in game three and knotted the contest 12-12 but Dayton edged out 17-13 and held the advantage. Game four saw eight ties, the last being 26-26 before the Flyers' victory while the fifth and deciding game had the visitor up 7-2 with the Dukes getting within a 6-11 reach, before Dayton sealed the win.

Duquesne travels to St. Francis Nov. 1 for a non-conference bout followed by an A-10 match at George Washington Nov. 2.
