DUQUESNE DEFEATS VCU, MOVES INTO FIRST PLACE IN A-10: The Duquesne volleyball team defeated VCU 3-1 on Friday night. By doing so, they are now in sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

WHAT THIS VICTORY MEANS FOR THE A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP: If Duquesne defeats La Salle on Sunday, the Dukes will be the #1 seed in the league championship.

A NEW PROGRAM RECORD: With tonight's win - their 11th in conference - the Dukes set a new program record.

4TH SET COMBACK: Trailing 19-17 in the 4th set, the Dukes rattled off six straight points forcing four consecutive VCU errors followed by back-to-back Madelynn Burnham kills which made the score 23-19 - Lacey Levers followed with two kills that sealed the set and the match for the Dukes GAME NOTES:

  • Arielle Love had a team-high 13 kills and hit .458

  • Two Dukes recorded double-doubles - Allison Foschia had 11 kills and 13 digs and Mary Henry led Duquesne with 34 assists and added 12 digs

  • Patti Abshire had a team-high 16 digs

    UP NEXT: The regular season ends Sunday afternoon at La Salle (1-30, 0-13).
