Volleyball Releases 2013 Schedule

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne head volleyball coach Steve Opperman has released the Dukes' 2013 schedule. In addition to a 14-game Atlantic 10 Conference slate which features nationally ranked Dayton, the non-conference schedule will be highlighted by four tournaments.

The season kicks off on August 30th and 31st at the IPFW Invitational, which will also feature Connecticut and Southern Illinois. The Dukes' first home match of the season is on Friday, September 6th against Central Michigan as part of the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. Duquesne will also host former A-10 member Xavier and travel to RMU on the second day of the event.

The following weekend - Sept. 13th and 14th - the Dukes will head to Blacksburg, Va. to participate in the Virginia Tech Invitational with William and Mary and Lipscomb. Duquesne will host West Virginia on Sept. 17th before heading to East Lansing, Mich. on Sept. 20th and 21st for the Spartan Invitational with Michigan State, Cincinnati and Eastern Michigan.

The A-10 Conference season begins with a two-match homestand with matches on Sept. 27th against Saint Louis and Sept. 29th against VCU.

October begins with three straight road matches. The Dukes travel to Rhode Island on Oct. 4th and Fordham on Oct. 5th. Duquesne concludes the trip on Oct. 11th at Saint Louis. The Dukes are home for the next two weekends starting with Rhode Island on Oct. 18th and Fordham on Oct. 19th followed by George Washington on Oct. 25th and Dayton on Oct. 26th.

Four of the last five matches are on the road beginning at A-10 newcomer George Mason on Nov. 1st followed by George Washington on Nov. 2nd. Duquesne returns home for a Nov. 10th match against La Salle for Senior Day. The regular season concludes with away matches at VCU on Nov. 15th and La Salle on Nov. 17th.

The 2013 Atlantic 10 Championship will be held on Nov. 22-24 at the Smith Center on the campus of George Washington University.

The Dukes return eight players from last season's 22-11, 9-5 A-10 team.
