@DuqVB Releases 2017 Schedule

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne head volleyball coach Steve Opperman has released the team's 2017 schedule. The Dukes, who are hosting the 2017 Atlantic 10 Champion ship, will play 27 total matches -- which includes four regular season tournaments, three teams that qualified for the 2016 NCAA Tournament and 14 Atlantic 10 Conference matches.
The regular season opens with the Hampton Inn Invitational held in Bowling Green, Ohio. The three-match tournament will take place August 25-26 as the Dukes take on Xavier, Bowling Green and UIC.
The following weekend, the Dukes will host the annual Duquesne Invitational at the Palumbo Center September 1-2, featuring nine matches. Duquesne will face Coppin State, Northern Kentucky, Canisius and cross-town rival Robert Morris.
September 8-9, Duquesne will travel 2,581 miles to Eugene, Oregon for the Nike Invitational, with the Dukes competing against a pair of NCAA Tournament teams in Wichita State and Oregon, as well as Cal Poly.
The final tournament of the regular season will take place September 15-16 at the Ball State/Butler Invitational. Opponents will include Ball State, Butler and Evansville. A-10 conference play will open at home on September 23 (George Mason) and September 24 (George Washington).
The Dukes will begin a four-match road trip September 29 at defending A-10 champion Dayton on Sept. 29. Duquesne will remain on the road for matches against Saint Louis (October 1), VCU (October 6) and Davidson (October 8).
Following the four-match road swing, Duquesne will host its next three matches against Rhode Island (October 13), Fordham (October 15) and La Salle (October 21).
On October 27, the Dukes will visit George Washington and then George Mason on October 28.
Duquesne will close out the regular season with two home matches against Davidson (November 3) and VCU (November 5) before travelling to La Salle (November 10).
The six-team 2017 A-10 Championship will be held at the Palumbo Center, beginning November 17th. The semifinal round is November 18 and the championship match on November 19th.
