Opperman Named A-10 Coach of the Year

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference has announced that Steve Opperman has been named the league's Coach of the Year.
This season, Opperman led the Dukes to its first-ever regular season title. Duquesne's 12 wins set a new program record for conference victories. Additionally, Duquesne had a program-best eight match winning streak that spanned from Oct. 4th to Nov. 1st.
During the regular season, the Dukes ended its 10-year, 15-match drought against former Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Xavier with a 3-2 win in the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational on Sept. 6th. Duquesne also ended its 16-game losing streak against defending Atlantic 10 champion Dayton on Oct. 26th.
Opperman was named Co-Coach of the Year in 2010, 2004 and 2001.
Duquesne, the #1 seed in the weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship, will play the winner of #4 Saint Louis and #5 Dayton on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
