DU's Samantha Howard Wins Duals At Schenley

Pittsburgh, Pa. - Sophomore Samantha Howard (Moon Township, Pa. / Moon) won the 64-runner Duquesne Duals at the Schenley Oval with a time of 18:42. The Dukes, 3-1 in the 5-team competition, placed six runners in the top 14.
Senior Tara Gerlach (Erie, Pa. / Villa Maria Academy) finished eighth with a time of 19:14, one second ahead of the ninth place taken by classmate Brianne Scott (Stony Point, N.Y./North Rockland).
The University of Pittsburgh tallied a perfect 4-0 mark in the event. The Panthers topped Duquesne 37-20. The Dukes average margin of victory in the other three matches was 30.3 points.
The Dukes return to action in two weeks when they head to Indiana for the National Catholic Championship on Sat. Sept. 16 at the Burke Memorial Golf Course. The University of Notre Dame will be hosting this event.
