Men's and Women's Cross Country Place Second to Notre Dame at National Catholic Championship

Duquesne's men's and women's cross country teams placed second to host Notre Dame at the 33rd annual National Catholic Championship Friday afternoon. The women's team tallied 62 points to easily outrun third place Marquette as Amber Valimont finished second overall in the 34-team field with a time of 17:12.7 in the 266-runner field. She was less than a second behind the winner and finished nearly 10 seconds ahead of the third place harrier. Valimont was followed by Carly Seymour in seventh in 17:33.3, Haley Pisarcik in 12th in 17:48.9, Danica Snyder in 14th in 17:51.7 and Hannah Scipio in 28th in 18:27.1. In the men's race, Jim Spisak captured third in the 276-runner field with a time of 24:30 as the Dukes finished with 88 team points, well ahead of the third place team in the 34-team field.
The Red and Blue return to action on Friday, Sept. 28th as they compete in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh.
