Women's Cross Country Takes Fourth

The Duquesne women's cross country team finished fourth of nine teams this afternoon at the Duquesne Invitational. The Dukes were led by junior Carrie Hucko's fifth-place finish with a time of 18:40 in the 119-competitor event. The Dukes placed three runners in the top 20 with Michelle Flynn taking 17th (19:43) and Tara Gerlach finishing 19th (19:49) on the rain-soaked 5k course. Mericka Lehman took 23rd with a personal-best time of 19:53 followed by Michelle Kvernmo (26th - 19:56), Alison Buchanan (28th - 20:02) and Rebecca Stearns (30th - 20:07). Clarion won the event with a score of 49 followed by Pitt (54), Dayton (61), Duquesne (90) and Carnegie Mellon (125) rounding out the top five. The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they travel to Lewisburg, PA for Bucknell's Gulden Invitational.
