PITTSBURGH - The Duquesne women's cross country team paced the 16-team field at the 2017 Carnegie Mellon University Invitational on Saturday at the Schenley Oval, posting a team score of 31 at the event.
The Dukes had seven runners finish in the top 16 at the race, highlighted by junior Elizabeth Morris' (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) second-place finish with a time of 18:33.2.
Senior Jenny DelSignore (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) was right behind Morris in third place with a mark of 18:35.0, followed by sophomore Megan Aller (New Kensington, Pa./Kiski Area) in seventh at 18:58.6 as well as juniors Taylor Pletz (North East, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) in ninth at 19:07.5 and Jennifer Gerland (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) in 10th at 19:11.0.
Freshman Tessa Franchi (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) finished 12th with a time of 19:18.0 while Morgan Perkins (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) added a 16th-place showing at 19:31.0.
The Dukes are back in action on Friday, Oct. 6 at the Penn State Open. The race is slated for an 11:30 a.m. start in University Park, Pa.
