The women's cross country team placed fifth at the 2002 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship held at Pittsburgh's Schenley Park.

Duquesne junior Carrie Hucko (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny / Miami-OH) placed third overall among 116 runners with a time of 17:55. As a result, Hucko was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team.

Following Hucko were sophomore Michelle Flynn (Monroeville, Pa. / Gateway) in 32nd place, freshman Mericka Lehman (Albuquerque, N.M. / La Cueva) in 36th, sophomore Alison Buchanan (Ravenna, Ohio / St. Thomas Aquinas) in 37th and freshman Tara Gerlach (Erie, Pa. / Villa Maria Academy) in 38th.

The Dukes return to action on Saturday, Nov. 16 as they travel to Bucknell for the NCAA Mid-East Regional.
