Women's Cross Country Adds Eight Newcomers to 2013 Roster

2013 Women's Cross Country Roster

Duquesne University head cross country/track and field coach Bryan Delsite has announced that eight new runners will join the 2013 women's teams. New to the Dukes are freshmen Megan Baritot (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora), Carolyn Dann (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg), Jenny DelSignore (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home), Kaitlyn Figurelli (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional), Hannah Gilliam (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham), Heather Konstanzer (Clarksville, Md./Reservior), Emma Lunne (Canfield, Ohio/Canfield) and Valerie Palermo (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder).

Baritot comes to Duquesne as a First Team All-Western New York selection and four-time ECIC All-Star. Her school finished the season as the number one small school in the nation after placing fifth overall at the Nike Cross Nationals where she placed 82nd.

Dann was a two-time state qualifier in cross country and team captain for both cross country and track and field as a senior. She was a four-year varsity cross country participant and received the Mid-Penn Conference Scholar Athlete Award.

DelSignore joins the Dukes as a four-time state qualifier in cross country. She hold her home course record and her team was the 2012 ECIC champions, finishing ninth in the state. On the track, she holds the 3000 meter indoor record and was the outdoor team MVP in 2013 where she set the steeplechase record and the 4x800 relay record.

Figurelli was a three-time cross country state qualifier and was twice the runner-up at the County Championships. A Tribune Review Athlete of the Week, she was a four-year letter-winner and two-time team captain for both cross country and track. In addition, she was a WPIAL track qualifier in the 1600 and 3200 and was named the team's top distance runner twice.

Gilliam was a three-time First Team Suburban One American Conference (SOAC) honoree and a three-time Second Team SOAC choice. She helped lead her team to a fourth straight SOAC championship by winning the 800 meter run with a meet record time of 2:16.02. Gilliam's team placed second at the state championship.



Konstanzer comes to Duquesne as a team state champion in cross country as a senior, her only year of cross country, individually finishing 22nd overall in the meet. On the track, she was a member of the school record holding 4x800 relay team as a sophomore and she also posted the fifth fastest time in school history in the 5K at the Southern Invitational.

Lunne was named the All-American Conference American Division Runner of the Year after winning the 1600 and 3200 meter races and received an All-Ohio Academic award as well. A four-year letter-winner for cross country and track, she was the district champion in both sports.

Palermo was a First Team All-State selection in cross country after finishing 11th at the state championship and 19th at the Nike Cross Regionals for New York. On the track, she was the 2013 state champion in the 2,000 meter steeplechase and finished second in the steeplechase at the 2013 New Balance Outdoor Track & Field Nationals.
