NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Academic All-Conference teams were announced by the league on Tuesday, with Duquesne senior Jenny DelSignore (Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) garnering Academic All-Conference honors.
The A-10 Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of student-athletes who were selected based on their performance on the trails, as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, runners must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career. The teams were selected through voting conducted by the league's Sports Information Directors.
DelSignore, a physical therapy major, was one of just six women's cross country runners to earn Academic All-Conference accolades. She is coming off an all-region performance at the 2017 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship meet last Friday in Bethlehem, Pa., posting a 23rd-place finish at the event.
This comes after DelSignore recorded her fourth straight All-Conference showing at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Oct. 28 in Leesburg, Va. She toured the 5k course in 18:10.1, finishing in seventh place for the second straight year after placing sixth as a sophomore in 2015 and 10th as a freshman in 2014.
DelSignore helped the Dukes to a fifth-place finish at this year's A-10 Championship. She added an All-Region performance at the 2016 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship meet with a 13th-place finish.
