Tryout Information

Tryouts for the 2015-2016 season will be held on Saturday April 18th in the Auxiliary Gym of A.J. Palumbo Center from 8:30 am until approximately 3:00 pm. While being at the tryout is preferred; if any cheerleader cannot physically attend the tryout, we ask that a video be submitted. This video and application must be received one week prior to the tryout date, and should include: one sideline cheer, one dance, tumbling skills and stunting skills. Any late submissions will not be considered.

For the tryout, please dress in practice/athletic attire with your hair off of your face. Top girls are required to wear flat sole cheer shoes for safety reasons. During the tryout, each cheerleader will be asked to perform the fight song, one band dance and one sideline, which will be taught that day. In addition to the skills mentioned, the athlete will also need to perform the following:

• Minimum standing back handspring* or ability to get
• Minimum round-off with two connected skills* or ability to get one (I.e., 2 handsprings, handspring tuck, etc.)
• Ability to all-girl partner stunt with one legged elite level stunts.
*Tumbling is not required. However, those trying out with advanced tumbling skills will be given first preference to a spot on the squad.

All squads must be present at the Team Weekend at the beginning of August. Practices begin with the new school year in August 25 of2015.

The squads are as follows (with the potential to add a Competition Squad):

Blue Squad - Consists of all members. Cheers all home football games at Art J. Rooney Football Field. Practice is held every Sunday 6-9 pm and Wednesday 7-10 pm. Minimum skills required. Also cheers all home Men's and Women's home basketball games at A.J. Palumbo Center and could travel to post-season tournaments in March based on team's success during the regular season.
Red Squad - This is strictly a competitive squad. Members will perform at certain events, as well as practice every Sunday 6-9 pm. Members are required to attend tumbling, as well as strength and conditioning sessions on campus.
